Cristian Mihailescu & Anna Yang
Co-Secretaries-General
After spending an unforgettable year on the 2016 Secretariat, Anna and Cris are incredibly excited to be CAIMUN’s first Co-Secretary-General team. Seniors at Charles Best Secondary and Port Moody Secondary respectively, MUN has helped them develop life-long passions for public speaking, diplomacy, and intellectual discourse. Having delegated, chaired, and directed at countless conferences over their high school careers, Anna and Cris are confident in their ability to bring an unforgettable experience to all participants of CAIMUN 2017. In her spare time, Anna enjoys creative writing, eating Cris’s food, and traveling. Cris, on the other hand, has a vested interest in politics, comedy, and making food for friends or Anna. This year, Anna and Cris will work hard to ensure a prodigious delegate experience, keeping with CAIMUN’s tradition of accessibility and innovation. They extend a warm welcome to all delegates, staff, and sponsor teachers, and look forward to a fantastic CAIMUN 2017!

Julian Miller
Director-General
Julian Miller is a junior at Prince of Wales Secondary School, and is honoured to serve as the Director-General for Canada International Model United Nations 2017. This will be Julian’s fourth iteration of CAIMUN, having participated as a delegate, staff member, and as last year’s Under-Secretary-General of Specialized Agencies, and he feels a great deal of pride to be involved once again this year. CAIMUN is a conference that prides itself on its high standards of debate, exceptional delegate experience, as well as its ever-present desire to innovate, all of which Julian looks forward to working to the best of his abilities to uphold and improve. In his spare time, Julian enjoys hip-hop music, playing competitive tennis, and watching soccer. He is hopeful that delegates will find CAIMUN 2017 as valuable, engaging, and memorable as previous years of CAIMUN have been for him, and he looks forward to seeing you in May!

Andrew Yun
Chief of Staff
Andrew is a junior at Port Moody Secondary School, and particularly interested in studying entrepreneurism and global politics. Since falling in love with Model United Nations in grade 7, Andrew has delegated and staffed at countless conferences – big and small – in the lower mainland, including four CAIMUNs and a variety of committees ranging from the World Health Organization to the Security Council. Now, Andrew is thrilled to serve as the Chief of Staff, a position that will allow him to approach MUN from yet another perspective, and give both the delegates and the staff members an unforgettable experience. For him, the biggest focus for this year’s conference is to make sure every delegate feels comfortable interacting and debating with one another. Outside of his involvement with MUN, Andrew is an avid debater, competitive fencer, and a passionate traveler. He looks forward to welcoming everyone to CAIMUN in May!

Jacques Chen
Under-Secretary-General of Delegate Affairs
Jacques is a senior IB student at Port Moody Secondary. He is intrigued and excited to be part of CAIMUN this year. Although he is mainly interested in the sciences at school, he has been part of MUN since his sophomore year and has really enjoyed the variety of topics that are discussed, as well as the opportunity to debate and strategize. For some reason, he is also really into cool tie knots. As some may tell from the picture, Jacques can be described as that typical nerd found in high school libraries, but he does not mind too much. During his free time, he likes listening and playing all sorts of music (from classical to EDM), playing tennis, and painting. He is also a huge fan of podcasts and weird indie movies. In the end, he hopes to make the registration and delegating process as smooth as possible at CAIMUN 2017.

Eric Jin Cheng
Under-Secretary-General of Logistics
Eric Jin Cheng, a senior at St. George’s School is delighted to serve as this years USG of Logistics. Eric has been involved in MUN since Grade 7. He has been attending many conferences as a delegate and as one of the Media Team members. Eric believes that MUN is truly a wonderful opportunity for delegates to learn about current events and issues that are relevant from around the world. Over the past few years, he has been more so involved with organizing media especially during his favourite experience at CAIMUN 2016. Through Model United Nations, Eric has made many new friends. Outside of MUN, Eric enjoys photography and painting. He also enjoys training for competitive sports such as taekwondo and tennis. Eric is very ecstatic for the upcoming year and wishes to see you all at CAIMUN 2017, where a unique experience awaits.

Daniel Yan
Under-Secretary-General of Committees (Specialized Agencies)
Daniel Yan is a senior student from St. George’s School. The world of Model UN has greatly expanded his understanding of politics on an international scale and broadened his views on the concepts of cooperation and diplomacy. He finds himself particularly captivated by discussions pertaining to international economics, as well as the specific regional economic and social development of countries around the world. Outside of Model UN, he is a passionate reader, a determined cook and an avid strategy filled gamer. You can find him in the streets of Vancouver searching for food, or on the dance floor where he flourishes. Daniel has the absolute honor of serving as the Under-Secretary-General of Committees for Specialized Agencies at CAIMUN 2017. He looks forward to an exciting conference and hopes to challenge delegates’ creative minds through unique and interesting committees. Furthermore, Daniel truly believes that diplomacy is not a spectator sport, and wishes to share his love for Model UN through this experience.

Kevin Lei
Under-Secretary-General of Committees (General Assemblies)
With a longstanding interest in world affairs, history, public speaking, and networking with incredible people , Kevin Lei, who proudly serves as the USG for General Assemblies for CAIMUN 2017, inevitably fell in love with Model United Nations, beginning at ConnectMUN 2014. A senior, Kevin is enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme of Port Moody Secondary. Since then, Kevin has staffed and delegated in many committees, both general and specialized, and most of all in historical committees from ancient times to the recent past. Otherwise, Kevin can be found volunteering with nonprofits and St. John Ambulance, as well as engaging in political discussions and solving crosswords. Kevin is thrilled to serve on the Secretariat for CAIMUN 2017 and looks forward to seeing you at a spectacular conference!

Ashley Phord-Toy
Under-Secretary-General of Marketing
Upon joining the world of Model United Nations, Ashley has been captivated by the fulfilling activity. As a grade 11 student at Crofton House School, she has been fortunate to attend a plethora of MUN conferences (in fact, this will be her 15th conference!) All these experiences have allowed Ashley to further develop her passions of international relations and public speaking. Similarly, she hopes that CAIMUN 2017 will become the backdrop for delegates to learn more about global issues and diplomatic discussion. This year, Ashley is confident that CAIMUN will continue to grow in new and innovative ways, and she is hopeful that this year’s conference will be the best one yet! Outside of Model UN, Ashley can be found adding new fish to her aquarium, attempting to re-create masterchef dishes, or creating playlists of rap and k-pop music. Ashley is honoured to serve as the USG of Marketing for CAIMUN 2017, and hopes that all delegates have a phenomenal experience!

Anika Lee
Under-Secretary-General of Sponsorships
Anika Lee is currently a senior at Gleneagle Secondary, and is honoured to serve as the Under Secretary-General of Sponsorships for CAIMUN 2017. Since attending her first conference in grade nine, Model United Nations has grown to become a central passion in her life. Enamored by the platform it provides for personal empowerment and fervent debates, she one day hopes to work for the United Nations or as the Canadian ambassador in America. Outside of Model United Nations, she can be found writing poetry, listening to Kanye West, eating an embarrassingly large amount of macarons at Thierry’s, and trying to convince herself she’s actually a good cook. Anika is looking forward to an engaging weekend and wishes all delegates a stimulating and unforgettable experience.

Rai McKenzie
Under-Secretary-General of IT & Media
Rai McKenzie is excited to serve as the Under-Secretary-General of IT & Media for CAIMUN 2017. Upon joining his school’s debate club in Grade 9, Rai found his passion for public speaking and debating. He is now the co-leader of the club and appreciates the opportunity to pique others’ interests in public speaking and debating. With his passion for public speaking, debating and interest in global news, he feels Model United Nations combines the best of all these. Rai is also an experienced software developer having worked at many companies, organizations as well as on his own projects. Most notably, he currently works as a programmer at the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award Program, an organization well-respected throughout Canada. In his free time, you can find him playing Jazz, composing music, watching movies or trying out new restaurants in downtown Vancouver. Rai is excited to be a part of CAIMUN’s secretariat team and is looking forward to seeing all of you at the conference!

Kevin Zuo
Under-Secretary-General of Conference
Kevin Zuo is a grade 11 student attending Fraser Heights Secondary, and he is beyond excited to serve as your USG of Conference at CAIMUN 2017. Guided by his passion to debate global events, Kevin joined MUN as soon as he entered his grade 8 year; three years later, he has become an active member both in MUN and debate. Besides public speaking, Kevin also enjoys volunteering in the community, conversing with people who share his interests, as well as playing the piano for leisure. Serving as a secretariat member this year at CAIMUN has given Kevin the opportunity to reciprocate the experience and compassion bestowed to him by the MUN community, and it is his goal to pervade his passion for international politics to all participants of CAIMUN. He looks forward to not only meeting all the students and teachers, but also making CAIMUN 2017 the most memorable and enjoyable conference for everyone attending.
