Read more about the people who make Canada International Model United Nations possible every year.

Julian Miller
Secretary-General
A senior at Prince of Wales Secondary in Vancouver, Julian is honoured to be serving as Secretary-General for CAIMUN 2018. Over the course of his five-year Model United Nations career, Julian has developed several lasting passions—including a fondness for global affairs and a penchant for public speaking—that are now integral to his character. Now a veteran of the Model UN circuit, Julian is thrilled to have the opportunity to provide the conference experience that he valued so highly as a delegate to other students. In his spare time, Julian works as a tennis coach at the UBC Tennis Centre, avidly follows soccer, and enjoys music and film. Buoyed by his unforgettable experiences as a member of both the CAIMUN 2016 and 2017 secretariat teams, Julian is eagerly awaiting this year’s iteration of the conference. Julian would like to invite all delegates, staff members, volunteers, and sponsor teachers to what he is certain will be yet another extraordinary CAIMUN this April.

Andrew Yun
Director-General
Andrew is a senior at Port Moody Secondary School, and particularly interested in studying history and global politics. Ever since falling in love with Model United Nations in grade 7, Andrew has delegated and staffed at countless conferences – big and small – in the lower mainland, including five CAIMUNs and a variety of committees ranging from the World Health Organization to the Security Council. Now, Andrew is thrilled to serve as the Director-General, a position that will allow him to give back to the MUN community – from which he has gained so much – in the form of an unforgettable conference. For him, the biggest focus of this year’s conference is to make sure every delegate feels comfortable interacting and debating with one another. Outside of his involvement with MUN, Andrew is an avid debater, competitive fencer, and a passionate traveler. He looks forward to welcoming everyone to CAIMUN in April!

Ashley Phord-Toy
Chief of Staff
Upon joining the world of Model United Nations, Ashley has been captivated by the fulfilling activity. In particular, she enjoys MUN because it encourages discussion around human rights and conflict. As a grade 12 student at Crofton House School, she has been fortunate to attend a plethora of MUN conferences (in fact, this will be her 17th conference!) CAIMUN 2017 was by far the best MUN conference that Ashley has ever attended. Still, she is determined to make CAIMUN 2018 even better. This year, Ashley is honoured to serve as the Chief of Staff; she hopes that all delegates have a phenomenal experience. Outside of Model UN, Ashley can be found playing various percussion instruments, creating epic playlists, and smashing the patriarchy. If you have any questions about the conference, feel free to reach out to her at [email protected] She looks forward to witnessing debate and discussion!

Alvin Zou
Under-Secretary-General of Delegate Affairs
Alvin Zou is currently a junior at Prince of Wales Secondary, and is thrilled to be serving as CAIMUN 2018’s USG of Delegate Affairs. Upon entering the world of Model UN in grade 9, he was immediately captivated by the unique experience and the sophistication of debate. Since then, Alvin’s passion for Model UN has only grown stronger. This year, he’s delighted to work towards ensuring this year’s iteration lives up to CAIMUN’s reputation as an innovative, ambitious conference. When he’s not preoccupied with delegate rooming lists, Alvin can be found on the ultimate frisbee fields of his high school, the ski slopes of the North Shore, or in his living room catching up on episodes of Game of Thrones. After a truly unforgettable experience at last year’s conference, Alvin is honoured to be a part of this year’s secretariat team and hopes that CAIMUN 2018 will be an exciting, memorable weekend for all of its attendees.

Shakil Jessa
Under-Secretary-General of Logistics
Shakil is a junior at Port Moody Secondary and has been doing Model United Nations for the past 3 years now, and he is extremely excited to be serving as your Under Secretary General of Logistics at CAIMUN 2018. He enjoys doing comedy, watching Saturday Night Live, or doing anything outside, whether it be from hiking to camping, biking to paddle boarding, he is always ready to out for an adventure. His favourite part of MUN is the ability to meet delegates from all around the world, and interact with different cultures and perspectives. Ever since his first conference, he has been hooked into the world of MUN, and has enjoyed every aspect of it, from the fruitful debate, to the social connections which last a lifetime. Shakil can't wait for CAIMUN 2018 and looks forward to seeing everyone in April!

Rosa Rahimi
Under-Secretary-General of Committees (Specialized Agencies)
A senior at York House School, Rosa is honoured to be serving as the USG of Specialized Agencies at CAIMUN 2018. Rosa began participating in Model UN five years ago as the feeble delegate of Albania and she hasn’t looked back since. Being involved with MUN as a delegate, staff member, and student leader has given Rosa the opportunity to meet new people, participate in meaningful discussions, and foster her passion for international relations. When she’s not organizing CAIMUN’s roster of innovative and exciting committees, Rosa is an avid debater, human rights activist, and aspiring pasta maker. Whether CAIMUN is your first MUN conference or one of your last, Rosa strives to make it a place where each and every delegate will thrive.

Sean Lee
Under-Secretary-General of Committees (General Assemblies)
Sean is a grade 12 student at St. George’s School, and is ecstatic to serve as your USG General Assemblies for CAIMUN 2018. Ever since he stepped into his first ever committee session four years ago, Sean has been captivated by the diplomatic yet fierce discourse that can only be found in the MUN universe. In addition, MUN has inspired Sean to develop an intense keenness for international relations and public speaking. In his spare time, Sean can be found reading up on Nigerian politics, struggling to make simple decisions, and enjoying his culinary experiences to the fullest. Sean welcomes all delegates, staff, and sponsor teachers to CAIMUN, and looks forward to a conference that will surely be the highlight of April 2018!

Nick Young
Under-Secretary-General of Marketing
Nick Young is a junior at St. George’s School. Ever since his first conference in ninth grade, he’s had a passion for Model United Nations that would never die, leading him to staff and delegate at multiple conferences throughout the lower mainland. What stuck out to him most was the vast diversity of individuals he could meet and the complex yet fulfilling debate he could partake in. Now, his love of diplomacy has brought him to his current role as Under-Secretary-General of Marketing at CAIMUN 2018. He hopes to do everything in his power to make this conference as wonderful as he can. Outside of the Model UN scene, Nick can be found doing a myriad of distinct activities: suffering through projects and homework, religiously reading his copy of The Economist, and participating in various clubs and NGOs. He wishes everyone a warm welcome to CAIMUN in April!

Annabeth Lin
Under-Secretary-General of Sponsorships
Annabeth Lin is a grade 12 IB student attending Semiahmoo Secondary. She has been involved in MUN for three years and is more than excited to serve as the USG of Sponsorships at CAIMUN 2018. Ever since she attended her first MUN conference, she was introduced to a world of diplomacy and immediately fell in love with the unique atmosphere MUN provides. Truly inspired by the positive outcomes of MUN, Annabeth is determined to provide the best delegate experience as she wishes that everyone could develop new skills while making long-lasting friendships! Outside of MUN, she can be found tackling Spanish, learning new euphonium pieces, complaining about the workload, or simply mastering the art of procrastination. Annabeth looks forward to an enriching experience for everyone at CAIMUN 2018!

Adrian Yung
Under-Secretary-General of IT & Media
Adrian Yung is a senior at Prince of Wales Secondary School. After discovering Model United Nations in Grade 8, he found a passion for international politics and debate, and has since delegated at many conferences around Vancouver. Through his many MUN experiences, he has made many friends and has met a lot of amazing people. This year, Adrian will be serving as CAIMUN 2018's USG of Media and IT, a position that allows him to put his graphic design skills as a previous yearbook editor to good use. Outside of MUN, he enjoys surfing the internet, playing very difficult piano and gaming on a variety of devices. Additionally, he can also be found volunteering with his Venturer scout group. Adrian is excited to be able to be a part of CAIMUN 2018, where he hopes delegates will have a truly memorable experience.

Allan Lee
Under-Secretary-General of Conference
As a junior attending St. George’s school, Allan is beyond excited to be able to serve as the Under-Secretary-General of Conference at CAIMUN 2018. Ever since he participated in his first MUN conference as a young grade 8 boy, Allan has fostered an interest in global affairs, engaged in intellectual discourse, and learned about diverse perspectives on international politics. Having participated in several MUN conferences throughout his 3 years in highschool so far, Allan values every opportunity he receives to speak passionately about any subject matter, meet new people from all over the world, and continues every weekend he spends in any conference. Outside of school, you can find Allan attempting to play pool, trying his hardest to not to stay awake past midnight, and practicing to become a professional singer and rapper. As the Under-Secretary-General of Conference, Allan aims to create the best experience possible for all participants and is ecstatic to meet everyone in CAIMUN 2018.
