What is Canada International Model United Nations?
Canada International Model United Nations (CAIMUN for short) is an international high school MUN conference, held in Vancouver, Canada. Our objective is to bring students the most realistic portrayal of the mechanics of the UN, and promote a truly international outlook through a combination of professional staff, international attendance, and a multi-dimensional debate experience.
Where and when is the Conference?
CAIMUN 2013 will be held in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada from May 24th to 26th. The venue is at Sheraton Airport Hotel in Richmond; it is excellent venue, minutes away from dozens of restaurants and a shopping mall. All in all, delegates will be able to admire the city in all its commercial dynamism and natural beauty.
How much the conference cost, and what does it go towards?
CAIMUN has been working hard to make the conference as affordable as possible. Our delegate fee includes two nights at the hotel, 3 days of committee room sessions, internet access all around, delegate handbooks, amenities at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel, and more vital components of the conference.
Our delegate fees are $179 during early registration, $189 during regular registration, and $199 during late registration.

Do you offer financial aid?
Yes, please do not hesitate to email delaffairs@caimun.ca for a form to request financial aid. We will do our best to make sure everyone can attend our conference, regardless of economic status.
What is the role of the head delegate and teacher chaperone and are they necessary?
Yes, CAIMUN requires a chaperone and a head delegate. The head delegate and teacher generally are responsible for payments, hotel room assignments and delegate registration for their respective schools.
The teacher chaperon acts as the legal entity for the school team at CAIMUN and should assist CAIMUN in enforcing rules.
Am I allowed the option to not stay at the hotel overnight?
We would strongly prefer delegates to stay at the hotel to be able to best enjoy their experience, and partake in our midnight crisis session. That being said, if you would prefer not staying at the hotel, please contact delaffairs@caimun.ca and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
I got my country assignment, what should I do to prepare for the conference?
By the time you get your country assignment, the director for your committee will have uploaded the backgrounders for each topic. Read through it, taking notes on the history of the committee, present problems, and various factions on the topic. After this, you should research the topic and your policies carefully, and write out a position paper for submission (see our Position Paper Policy page for what we expect). There are lots of resources out there to research, as well as some great guides like this to help you well prepared for the conference.
Is a sponsor teacher (teacher chaperone) required for our delegation?
Yes, we request a sponsor teacher for every school’s delegation. In the event that you are unable to find a sponsor teacher from your school, please email delaffairs@caimun.ca to work out a solution.
What are the advantages of early registration?
If you register early, CAIMUN can offer you the cheapest prices to attend the conference. In addition, early registration gives you a better opportunity of receiving the country and committee you wish to have.
What awards will be given out and how is it decided?
The awards given out include: Best Delegate, Outstanding Delegate, Honourable Mention and Best Position Paper. Clear here for more information on awards.
How are hotel rooms assigned?
The head delegate is responsible for assigning rooms. Our USGs of Delegate Affairs will send a room assignment sheet to the head delegate, who must make the arrangement prior to May 6th.
Will there be internet access provided in guest rooms or committee rooms?
Yes! Internet access will be provided in both guest rooms and committee rooms! By offering this, we believe you will be significantly aided in researching during the conference, and of course for accessing and utilizing one of the staples of our conference, the CAI-Forum!
